VISION
The National Service Scheme (NSS) aims to develop socially responsible, ethically strong, and community-oriented engineers by instilling the spirit of selfless service, leadership, and national integration. Through active participation in community development and rural outreach, NSS strives to transform knowledge into meaningful action for the betterment of society.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) seeks to motivate and engage students in meaningful community service by promoting social awareness, civic responsibility, and leadership. Through structured activities such as rural outreach, environmental initiatives, and social development programs, NSS aims to foster a sense of social commitment and contribute to sustainable national development.
OBJECTIVE
- To develop social awareness and a sense of responsibility among students towards the community and the nation.
- To encourage student participation in community service activities, particularly in rural and underdeveloped areas.
- To inculcate leadership qualities, teamwork, and organizational skills through service-oriented programs.

Ten Days Special Camp
Every year we are adopting one village for our special 10 days camp. First few days will be spent for identifying the problems of the village.
Our activities during every special camps:
- Counseling, Tips and training for students who are appearing for the Board Exams in the village.
- #Free Eye screening & surgery camp and spectacles distribution and arrangements for cataract surgery.
- Conducting vocational training to the villagers (statistical work/computers).
- Emphasizing to have clean and green environments.
- The need to have hygienic and pollution free living conditions.
- Helping the needy youngsters to get job opportunities.
- Helping the people to develop self skills and arranging motivation talks.
- Conducting Exhibition and distribution of books to poor students.
- Inviting VIPs to the camp to address the people for further enlightenment.
- Educating the youngsters to lead addiction free life with regard to liquor, smoke and drug.
- Educating the villagers to have social involvement.
- AIDS/CANCER awareness programs to village people.

AMBEDKAR JAYANTI TAMIZHI

The Ambedkar Jayanti Tamizhi celebration was organized by the Sairam NSS Unit at SRR Hall from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM to honor the legacy of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar while promoting Tamil culture and constitutional awareness. The event included various interactive and creative activities that encouraged students to express their ideas through storytelling, communication exercises, and cultural participation. Students actively engaged in discussions and activities that emphasized the importance of equality, justice, and unity. The presence of the chief guest added inspiration and value to the program. The event successfully created awareness about constitutional values and strengthened appreciation for Tamil language and heritage. NSS volunteers gained experience in organizing cultural programs, improved their leadership and communication skills, and developed a deeper understanding of social responsibility and cultural identity.
RD BOOTCAMP 2025

The RD Bootcamp 2025 was conducted as a structured training program aimed at preparing NSS volunteers for Republic Day camp participation. The sessions were held in a disciplined training environment where volunteers engaged in physical drills, marching practice, and team-based activities. The program focused on building endurance, coordination, and leadership qualities among participants. Volunteers actively participated in daily routines that emphasized discipline, punctuality, and teamwork. The outcome of the bootcamp was the development of confident and physically fit volunteers ready to represent at higher levels. NSS volunteers gained valuable skills such as leadership, time management, teamwork, and perseverance. The experience also instilled a strong sense of patriotism and commitment to national service, making it a highly impactful training initiative.

ECHOES OF KINDNESS

Echoes of Kindness was organized by the Sairam NSS Unit as a social outreach initiative aimed at spreading compassion and empathy within the community. The event involved volunteers engaging in meaningful service activities such as interacting with underprivileged individuals and offering support through acts of kindness. The program emphasized human values, emotional connection, and social responsibility. Volunteers actively participated in creating a positive and supportive environment for the beneficiaries. The outcome of the event was increased awareness about the importance of kindness and social service. It fostered a sense of unity and compassion among participants. NSS volunteers gained emotional intelligence, improved interpersonal communication skills, and developed empathy and a deeper commitment to serving society selflessly.
CM RALLY

The CM Rally was organized as a public awareness initiative by the Sairam NSS Unit, involving active participation from volunteers. The rally was conducted in a public setting where students marched with banners and slogans highlighting important social issues. The event aimed to create awareness among the community and encourage responsible citizenship. Volunteers actively engaged with the public, spreading awareness and promoting social responsibility. The outcome of the rally was increased public engagement and awareness regarding societal concerns. CYBER STREET

Cyberstreet was conducted as a digital awareness initiative by the Sairam NSS Unit to educate the public about cyber safety and responsible internet usage. The event was held on two different occasions, focusing on spreading awareness about online threats, data privacy, and safe digital practices. Volunteers interacted directly with the public, explaining various cyber risks and preventive measures through discussions and demonstrations. The program aimed to empower individuals with knowledge to protect themselves in the digital environment. The outcome of the event was increased awareness of cybersecurity among participants. NSS volunteers gained knowledge in digital literacy, enhanced their communication skills, and developed the ability to explain technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
AVOID PLASTIC USAGE RALLY

The Avoid Plastic Usage Rally was conducted by the Sairam NSS Unit to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices. The rally took place in the local community, where volunteers carried placards and raised slogans to educate the public about the harmful effects of plastic pollution. The event emphasized the importance of reducing plastic usage and adopting eco-friendly alternatives. The outcome of the rally was increased awareness among the public regarding environmental protection. SAY NO TO DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAM

The Say No to Drug Awareness Rally was organized to educate students and the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse. The rally brought together participants who marched with placards, slogans, and banners to spread awareness about the physical, mental, and social consequences of substance abuse. Volunteers actively engaged with the community, encouraging individuals to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. The rally aimed to create a strong public impact and promote a drug-free society through active participation and awareness. The outcome was an increased understanding among the public about the dangers of drug abuse. WALK ALONG 3.0 (YUVA)

The Walk Along (YUVA) event was organized by the Young Indians (Yi) as a community initiative to promote fitness, unity, and social awareness. The walk was conducted along the Marina Beach Road, bringing together people from different backgrounds to participate in a meaningful and energetic activity. NSS volunteers actively contributed as part of the organizing and support team, assisting in managing the crowd, guiding participants, and ensuring the smooth conduct of the event. Their involvement played a key role in maintaining coordination and safety throughout the walk. The event successfully encouraged public participation and highlighted the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. CHENNAI GOT TALENT 6.0 (YUVA)

Chennai Got Talent 6.0 (YUVA) was organized by the Young Indians (Yi) as a large-scale cultural event to showcase talent and creativity. The program featured a variety of performances including dance, music, and other artistic expressions, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for participants and the audience. NSS volunteers actively contributed as part of the volunteering team, supporting the smooth execution of the event. Their responsibilities included coordinating participants, assisting with event logistics, managing the crowd, and ensuring that the program ran efficiently. The event successfully highlighted diverse talents and created an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Through this volunteering experience, NSS members enhanced their event management, teamwork, and communication skills while gaining practical exposure to organizing large-scale cultural programs.
PREVENTIVE HEALTH CHECKUP CAMP
Date: 01-09-2025 & 02-09-2025
The Preventive Health Checkup Camp was organized by the Sairam NSS Unit over two days to provide essential healthcare services and promote awareness about preventive health practices. The camp was conducted at a community venue where a team of medical professionals carried out general health screenings, including blood pressure and blood sugar tests, BMI assessments, and basic medical consultations. Participants from the local community actively attended the camp and benefited from early detection of potential health issues. Free medical advice and guidance on maintaining a healthy lifestyle were also provided. The outcome of the event was improved health awareness and accessibility to basic healthcare services for the public. NSS volunteers gained practical exposure to organizing medical camps, improved their coordination and communication skills, and developed a deeper understanding of public health importance and community service.
MASS CLEANING CAMPAIGN

The activity took place in selected public areas where NSS volunteers actively participated in cleaning surroundings, removing waste, and ensuring proper disposal practices. Volunteers also interacted with local residents, encouraging them to adopt responsible waste management practices. WORLD CLEAN UP DAY 2025

The event was conducted in designated public areas where volunteers participated in large-scale cleaning efforts, collecting and segregating waste responsibly. Volunteers also spread awareness about waste management and the impact of pollution on society. The outcome of the event was enhanced environmental consciousness among the public and active involvement in cleanliness drives. GRITX 8.0
Date: 16-10-2025
GRITX 8.0, a national-level symposium organized by the NSS Unit of Sri Sairam Engineering College, was conducted at the college campus to provide a platform for students to showcase technical and creative talents. The event featured 19 technical and non-technical activities, including hackathons, coding challenges, paper presentations, debates, and creative competitions. With participation from over 800 students and coordination by 200 volunteers, the symposium fostered innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The event encouraged students to think creatively and develop solutions that positively impact society. The outcome of GRITX 8.0 was enhanced student engagement, skill development, and promotion of innovation-driven learning. NSS volunteers gained valuable experience in large-scale event organization, improved leadership and teamwork skills, and strengthened their commitment to the NSS motto of “Not Me, But You.”
SARDAR@150 UNITY MARCH CELEBRATION – PRE EVENT ACTIVITIES

The Sardar@150 Unity March Celebration was conducted at Sri Sairam Engineering College, Chennai, over a week-long period to honor the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event included a series of activities such as essay writing, debate competitions, yoga and wellness sessions, awareness campaigns, and the unity pledge. Students actively participated in discussions on national unity, leadership, and patriotism, while NSS volunteers coordinated registrations, event management, and participant engagement. The program aimed to instill values of discipline, unity, and responsible citizenship among youth. The outcome of the celebration was enhanced awareness of national integration and increased student participation in civic activities. NSS volunteers gained leadership experience, improved organizational and communication skills, and developed a deeper understanding of patriotism and social responsibility through active involvement in diverse activities.
FREE MAMMOGRAM CHECKUP CAMP

The Free Mammogram Checkup Camp was organized at the Community Hall, Nallur, Poonthandalam Village, to promote women’s health awareness and early detection of breast cancer. The program included an awareness session conducted by medical professionals, followed by basic health screenings such as blood pressure and blood sugar tests. A mobile mammogram unit was deployed to provide screening for middle-aged and elderly women. NSS volunteers actively supported the event by coordinating participants, assisting doctors, and conducting prior door-to-door awareness campaigns to ensure maximum participation. The camp successfully improved access to preventive healthcare services in the rural community and raised awareness about the importance of early diagnosis. NSS volunteers gained practical exposure in healthcare service coordination, improved communication skills, and developed empathy and a strong sense of social responsibility toward community health initiatives.
SARDAR@150 UNITY MARCH CELEBRATION – DISTRICT LEVEL PADYATRA

The District Level Padyatra – Sardar@150 Unity March 2025 was organized at Sri Sairam Engineering College, Chennai, in collaboration with My Bharat – Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event witnessed participation from over 800 individuals and involved a disciplined unity march promoting national integration, patriotism, and social responsibility. Participants carried placards and raised slogans emphasizing unity, self-reliance, and civic responsibility. The program also included motivational addresses and coordinated efforts by NSS volunteers to ensure smooth execution. The outcome of the event was increased awareness about national unity and the importance of collective responsibility among students and the public. 17th TRIBAL YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAMME 2025

SMART INDIA HACKATHON (SIH) 2025 – HARDWARE EDITION GRAND FINALE

The Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 Hardware Edition Grand Finale was hosted at Sri Sairam Engineering College, Chennai, serving as a nodal center for this prestigious national innovation event. The program brought together over 150 participants from across the country who worked intensively over multiple days to design, fabricate, and demonstrate hardware prototypes addressing real-world challenges posed by government and industry sectors. The event included mentorship sessions, technical evaluations, and continuous guidance from experts in academia and industry. The hackathon created a dynamic and collaborative environment that encouraged innovation, teamwork, and practical problem-solving. The outcome of the event was the development of impactful hardware solutions across domains such as healthcare, agriculture, and smart infrastructure. NSS volunteers gained exposure to cutting-edge technologies, improved coordination and event management skills, and developed a deeper understanding of innovation-driven problem solving and national development initiatives.
SAITECH S2T 6.0

SAITECH S2T 6.0 was a large-scale multidisciplinary event organized by Sairam Institutions at Sri Sairam Engineering College with active support from NSS volunteers. The event brought together more than 1600 participants from various schools and featured a wide range of academic, technical, and creative competitions including scientific exhibitions, drone challenges, SDG treasure hunts, essay writing, photography, and technical quizzes. The program aimed to promote innovation, scientific thinking, teamwork, and leadership among students. NSS volunteers played a crucial role in coordinating participants, assisting school students, and ensuring smooth execution of various events. The outcome of the event was enhanced creativity, technical knowledge, and confidence among participants. Students developed problem-solving skills, communication abilities, and teamwork through active participation. The NSS State Republic Day Camp 2026 was organized by the NSS Regional Directorate, Chennai, at VIT University. The ten-day residential camp brought together selected NSS volunteers from various colleges to develop discipline, leadership, teamwork, and patriotism. The daily schedule included flag hoisting, parade training, physical exercises, and rehearsals at Marina for the Republic Day parade. Volunteers were divided into teams to manage responsibilities, encouraging cooperation and leadership. Cultural programs were also conducted to showcase talents and build confidence. The outcome of the camp was significant improvement in discipline, time management, physical fitness, and coordination among participants. Volunteers gained leadership experience, teamwork skills, and enhanced self-confidence. The camp also instilled strong patriotic values and national integration. YUVA PATHFINDER was a youth development program conducted at Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur, organized by the Young Indian Chennai Chapter. Around 70 participants took part in skill-based and awareness activities focused on leadership, communication, teamwork, and social responsibility. The sessions were interactive and handled by professionals and students, making the program engaging and informative. The event was effectively organized by the Nine Vertices Team and Five Magic Members. The outcome of the program was improved confidence, leadership qualities, and communication skills among participants. Students developed teamwork abilities and gained awareness about social issues and education. NSS volunteers enhanced their event management, coordination, and interpersonal skills while working with external organizations. The sessions were interactive and provided practical exposure to real-world media practices. The outcome of the program was improved awareness among students regarding fake news and cyber threats. Participants learned how to verify information and avoid spreading misinformation. The camp also included awareness sessions on national values, civic responsibilities, and leadership development. ACTIVITY 5: CYPERCRIME AWARENESS WALKATHON

The Cybercrime Awareness Walkathon was organized to educate the public and students about the growing threats of cybercrime and the importance of digital safety. The event was conducted in and around the campus and nearby areas, where NSS volunteers actively participated in a walkathon carrying placards and spreading awareness messages.

ACTIVITY 6: ULLAS TOUCH THE SOIL PROGRAM

The Ullas Touch the Soil Program was organized by Ullas Trust in collaboration with the NSS unit of Sri Sairam Engineering College at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Adhiyamankottai, Dharmapuri. The program aimed to motivate and empower school students through meaningful interaction and life-oriented learning. NSS volunteers actively engaged with around 200 students by initiating friendly conversations about their daily routines, which helped create a comfortable and interactive environment. The session included discussions on successful personalities, encouraging students to reflect on their own aspirations. A motivational story was shared to instill values and resilience, followed by the introduction of practical success strategies such as DCP² (Dream, Conviction, Planning, Perseverance) and TPN (To-Do List, Prioritize, Never Postpone), helping students develop goal-setting and time management skills. Scholarships were awarded to top-performing students to recognize academic excellence and inspire others.
The program had a strong impact by boosting students’ confidence, motivation, and clarity about their future goals. NSS volunteers gained valuable experience in communication, leadership, and student engagement while developing empathy and a deeper sense of social responsibility. The event proved to be highly impactful, leaving a lasting impression on both students and volunteers.
ACTIVITY 7: ALERT AWARDS EVENT

The 8th edition of the ALERT Being Awards was held in Chennai, honoring brave Good Samaritans and organizations for their life-saving acts and humanitarian contributions during emergencies and natural calamities. ALERT, a non-profit championing the ‘Right to Life’ in India, launched ALERTAiD — a WhatsApp-based emergency bot — along with the ALERT Academy e-learning platform and a VR simulation module for rescue training. Sairam NSS volunteers had a transformative experience at the event, gaining invaluable insights into humanitarian efforts by directly engaging with real-life heroes and listening to their inspiring stories of courage and selflessness.
The event also marked World Day Against Child Labour, where Sairam NSS volunteers took a collective pledge against child labor, fueling their dedication to advocate for vulnerable communities and explore new avenues for social engagement. This empowering experience strengthened the volunteers’ commitment to community service, motivating them to actively contribute to meaningful social causes and embody the values of compassion and collective action.
ACTIVITY 8: 16TH TRIBAL YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAM

The 16th Tribal Youth Exchange Program promoted cultural integration and knowledge sharing among students from diverse regions. Students from Assam and Maharashtra were hosted and provided opportunities to explore the campus and academic facilities.
The program included visits to the incubation center and library, followed by a cultural event at VRR featuring performances and speeches. The event concluded with a community lunch, fostering unity and collaboration.
The program enhanced cultural awareness and mutual understanding among participants. NSS volunteers gained valuable exposure to diversity, cooperation, and national integration.

ACTIVITY 9: ULLAS YOUNG ACHIEVERS PROGRAM

ACTIVITY 11 : 26th ORIENTATION PROGRAM

An NSS Orientation Program was conducted for first-year students, introducing the structure and activities of the five NSS units. The session highlighted the role of NSS in community service and leadership development.
Students were informed about the selection of 250 volunteers across five units. The program included an address by Mr. N. Palaniappan, Best NSS Volunteer Awardee (2015–2016), along with motivational talks by senior volunteers.
The program effectively encouraged student participation in NSS activities. NSS volunteers gained experience in organizing and delivering orientation sessions.

ACTIVITY 12 : ULLAS YOUNG ACHIEVERS PROGRAM

ACTIVITY 13 : PHYSICAL FITNESS ASSESSMENT FOR YOUTH

A four-day Physical Fitness Assessment program was organized to evaluate and promote physical health among youth. The initiative focused on enhancing strength, endurance, flexibility, and overall well-being.
Assessments included running drills, push-ups, sit-ups, flexibility tests, and BMI measurements. Participants gained insights into their fitness levels and areas for improvement. The program emphasized the importance of regular exercise and healthy lifestyle practices.
The program reinforced the value of maintaining physical fitness and discipline. NSS volunteers gained experience in organizing health-focused assessment activities.

ACTIVITY 14: INSIGHTS ON SIGHT

The “Insights on SIGHT” session was organized by the Sairam NSS Unit through an online platform (Google Meet) with the objective of educating participants about IEEE SIGHT proposal drafting and EPICS funding opportunities. The session was led by Mr. Niranjan Kumar, an expert in IEEE SIGHT funding, who provided detailed guidance on essential aspects such as selecting impactful project ideas, preparing required documentation, and structuring effective proposals. Around 80 participants actively attended the session, engaging in discussions and gaining clarity on the submission process. The program created an interactive learning environment where students were encouraged to explore innovative ideas and understand real-world applications of their projects.
The outcome of the event was a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of funding opportunities and proposal development techniques. Students gained confidence in drafting proposals and were motivated to apply for IEEE SIGHT grants to develop impactful projects. NSS volunteers enhanced their organizational, coordination, and communication skills while managing the online session. The event successfully contributed to knowledge enhancement, innovation, and research-oriented thinking among participants.
ACTIVITY 15: PIXELPOD 2.0

PIXELPOD 2.0 was conducted as an advanced media and creative skills workshop aimed at enhancing students’ competencies in digital media and content creation.
The program included training in radio jockeying, podcasting, poster design, video editing, and digital storytelling. Hands-on sessions and collaborative activities enabled participants to develop practical skills. The workshop fostered creativity, communication, and technical proficiency.

EVENT : MARATHON, DRUG AWARENESS RALLY, CULTURALS

Our NSS Camp 2025 was packed with enthusiasm, awareness, and celebration. The day began at 6 AM with a spirited mini marathon that saw active participation from various age groups. Prizes were distributed in three categories: below 18, above 18, and girls. Following this, spectacles were distributed to those identified during the Day 1 medical camp, fulfilling a promise of service. The marathon concluded by 9 AM, after which our dedicated volunteers undertook a thorough cleaning of the campsite, ensuring a hygienic and organized environment. At 3 PM, an impactful anti-drug awareness rally was conducted, covering a 2 km stretch from Nallur Community Hall to Nallur Primary School. This rally aimed to educate the public and encourage a drug-free society. The evening came alive at 6 PM with vibrant cultural programs, including silambam, pyramid formation, group dancing, and singing. These performances showcased the talents of our volunteers and added joy to the atmosphere.

Sri Sairam Institutions organized the 28th Mega Blood Donation Camp, continuing over 28 years of service and crossing 28,000+ units collected in total.
Inspired by the participation of CEO Shri Sai Prakash Leo Muthu sir and Mrs. Sharmila J Rajaa mam, the camp collected 1815 units of blood across three venues: LMS – 1087 units, Sigma – 307 units, and SIT – 421 units.
The event was successfully conducted with the support of volunteers, organizers, and medical professionals, highlighting the institution’s commitment to social responsibility and community welfare.
