INTRODUCTION:
On Tamil New Year 2024, the Tamizhi event was held to promote Tamil heritage and test participants’ knowledge of Tamil literature and language. Teams of two competed in rounds, with 16 teams advancing from 35 in Round 1, 8 teams progressing in Round 2, and the top 3 selected in the final round. Winners were rewarded by Sri Sairam Engineering College officials.

INTRODUCTION:
The student volunteers of Sairam NSS organized a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of voting and its role in shaping democracy.The campaign aimed to empower first-time voters by educating them on their voting rights and the significant role they play in democracy. Students took a pledge to vote without external influence or inducements. The event motivated students to participate in elections responsibly and helped them understand the power of democratic governance.

INTRODUCTION:
The session was inaugurated by our NSS Programme Officers, who shared valuable insights into the NSS Unit and its functionalities, emphasizing the growth and importance of the NSS RJ and Media team. Workshops on Radio Jockeying, Poster Making, and Video Editing provided students with valuable knowledge. The first official magazine, PAYANAM, was unveiled by NSS Programme Officers Dr. G. Sathish Kumar, Mr. S. Dinesh Kumar, and Mr. K. Mohanraj in the presence of its creators and authors.
Sairam NSS organized workshops on Radio Jockeying, Poster Making, and Video Editing, and unveiled the first edition of the magazine PAYANAM.

The Yoga Day celebration at our institution was inspiring, with enthusiastic participation from teachers and students. Janaki Ma’am delivered an insightful speech on the significance of Yoga Day, emphasizing the importance of incorporating yoga into daily routines for physical and mental well-being, fostering a balanced and healthy lifestyle for personal growth.

ACTIVITY 5: DRUG AWARENESS RALLY

Sairam NSS, in collaboration with ADAPT HOME, organized an impactful awareness rally against drug abuse and illicit trafficking near Kolhapuri Amman Temple, T. Nagar. The event emphasized the dangers of drug abuse and illegal drug activities, highlighting their harmful effects on individuals and society while promoting active community involvement in addressing these critical issues.

The Drug Awareness Rally against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, organized by Sairam NSS, began in the morning at Nallur and followed a planned route through the main streets. INTRODUCTION:
Our college NSS volunteers visited three high schools in Tuticorin district to raise awareness about higher education, focusing on 10th and 12th-grade students. The interactive session, held from 12 PM to 2:30 PM, featured innovative speeches and engaging activities. Volunteers highlighted various options, including vocational training, undergraduate courses, and professional programs, to guide students in their academic pursuits.

Sairam NSS organized the Naadu Nam Veedu job fair for unemployed youth, women, and differently-abled individuals in adopted villages. The Yuva Olympics, held at Chennai’s SDAT Nehru Park, featured a full day of intense sports competitions promoting fitness, sportsmanship, and community involvement. The event included diverse athletic events and a Para Olympics segment, showcasing its commitment to inclusivity. It fostered camaraderie and left a lasting impact on all attendees.

INTRODUCTION:
Young Indians, the youth wing of the Confederation of Indian Industries, organized an event to raise awareness about drug abuse. Our NSS volunteers attended this insightful panel discussion, which focused on preventative measures with Chennai’s students. Over 1,000 students from 22 colleges participated, and the event was held at Women’s Christian College in Nungambakkam.

INTRODUCTION:
On Kamarajar’s Birthday, celebrated as Education Development Day, we proudly launched “AURA – Reach the Unreached,” aiming to bring quality education to primary schools. Our NSS volunteers visited three primary schools in Nadambakkam—Periya Colony, Periyar Nagar, and Nadambakkam Primary Schools—to provide educational resources and boost student morale. They focused on enhancing reading skills and conducted various educational events, making a positive impact on the students.

INTRODUCTION:
The Ullas program, initiated by Arun Jain under the Polaris Foundation, aims to empower students from economically challenged backgrounds by nurturing their academic potential and fostering a “can do” spirit. Focused on students in grades 9 to 12, the program supports their holistic development through mentorship, workshops, and resources. A key initiative, “Touch the Soil” (TTS), inspires high school students across districts. On July 26, 2024, the Sairam NSS team exemplified this mission in Salem, reaching 24 schools and motivating students to chase their dreams.

INTRODUCTION:
A Dedicated group of volunteers gathered for a tree plantation event aimed at enhancing the local environment and promoting sustainability. The volunteers worked together to plant 150 plus plants in Thirumudivakkam,transforming the area into a greener, healthier space. This tree plantation drive also helped our volunteers to realize the social responsibility that every individual has in order to make this world a better place.

The World Joints and Bones Health Day rally, organized by the Tambaram Health Center in collaboration with Sairam NSS and Seyal Foundation, was a notable event focused on raising awareness about bone and joint health. Bringing together healthcare professionals, volunteers, and the community, the rally emphasized preventive care and the importance of adopting healthier lifestyles to ensure long-term well-being. This collaborative initiative highlighted the collective responsibility towards joint and bone health, serving as a powerful platform for community health education and engagement.

INTRODUCTION:
An impactful session on the dangers of drug abuse and prevention strategies was delivered by the Sub-Inspector of Kundrathur station to volunteers, leaving a lasting impression on the participants. The active involvement of the Tamil Nadu police force highlighted the critical role of law enforcement in addressing social issues. Following the session, volunteers participated in an awareness rally through Nandambakkam, engaging with the local community. The presence of the Area Counselor further enriched the event, making it a meaningful and transformative campaign for all involved.

The Independence Day debate on “Viksit Bharat” showcased the eloquence and insight of 2nd and 3rd-year NSS volunteers as they discussed key topics like women empowerment and sustainability. Esteemed professors and thoughtful feedback from the judges added depth to the event, inspiring the participants. The debate highlighted the volunteers’ passion for driving positive change and fostered a collective sense of responsibility towards building a more inclusive and sustainable future for the nation.

The event featured an inspiring talk centered on the quote, “Never give up on what you really want to do. The person with big dreams is more powerful than one with all the facts,” motivating students to pursue their aspirations with determination. The theme, “Never stop with 1 Success,” encouraged continuous growth and ambition. The speaker recapped the Summit I program and imparted essential life skills such as planning, time management, teamwork, decision-making, and the “Magic of Appreciation.” Delivered in a cheerful manner, the session emphasized fostering a positive outlook on life, which nurtures optimism and increases the likelihood of success.

ULLAS’s 27th annual “Can Do” workshop, held on 31st August 2024 at Kamarajar Arangam, was a transformative event designed to empower over 1,200 school students with the knowledge and inspiration to shape their futures. The workshop aimed to instill confidence and a proactive mindset, featuring motivational talks, interactive sessions, and group activities focused on career exploration, personal development, and goal-setting. Nine dedicated volunteers from Sairam NSS played a pivotal role in mentoring students, facilitating discussions, and offering personalized guidance, ensuring that every participant felt supported throughout the event.

INTRODUCTION:
On October 2, in honor of Gandhi Jayanti, NSS (National Service Scheme) volunteers organized a Swachh Bharat event at Besant Nagar Beach, aligning with the vision of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility. Over 50 NSS volunteers actively participated in cleaning the beach, collecting and segregating waste for proper disposal. Equipped with gloves, trash bags, and cleaning tools, they worked diligently to remove plastic waste, litter, and debris from the shore, making a significant contribution to environmental conservation and community well-being.
